Zusammenfassung
Die Beckenbodenmuskeln und die Analsphinkteren bilden zusammen mit dem Hämorrhoidalplexus den Kontinenzapparat, welcher eine unwillkürliche Stuhlentleerung verhindert (Abb. 20.1). Das Rektum kann sich zudem mittels adaptiver Relaxation an eine Zunahme des Rektuminhalts anpassen (Musial u. Crowell 1995). Bei der Defäkation muß der Kontinenzapparat überwunden werden. Dieses gelingt entweder durch den Defäkationsreflex oder die willkürliche Betätigung der Bauchpresse.
