Zusammenfassung
In der vorliegenden Studie wurde die Expression pro- und antiinflammatorischer Zytokine aus Makrophagen sowie Thi und Th2 Lymphozyten mittels in situ Hybridisierung in läsioneller Haut von Erythema migrans Patienten mit oder ohne Zusatzsymptomen untersucht. Es fand sich eine breite Aktivierung von pro- als auch antiinflammatorischen Zytokinen mit einer Dominanz von IFN-γ und einer signifikant stärkeren Expression von proinflammatorischen Makrophagen-typischen Zytokinen bei Patienten mit Zusatzsymptomen. Die beschriebene Aktivierung von Zytokinen scheint ein wesentliches pathogenetisches Prinzip beim Erythema migrans darzustellen (biologischer Amplifikationsmechanismus), das vorteilhaft für die Erradikation des Krankheitserregers Borrelia burgdorferi ist.
