Zusammenfassung

In der Behandlung von Knorpeldefekten an den Belastungsflächen der Gelenke kommt in den letzten Jahrzehnten hyalin- oder hyalinähnlicher Knorpelersatz immer öfter in Frage. Es ist wohlbekannt, daß bei Erwachsenen die hyalinknorpelüberzogene Gleitfläche der Gelenke keine Regenerationsfähigkeit hat, und aus diesem Grund bildet sich an der Stelle des Knorpeldefekts in der Regenerationsphase nur minderwertiger Faserknorpel. Da dieser Knorpelersatz wesentlich schlechtere biomechanische Eigenschaften hat und an den ersetzten Stellen wieder sich ein Knorpeldefekt bilden kann, ist es leicht erklärbar, daß in diesen Gelenken sehr früh eine Arthrose entsteht.
