Abstract

Contrast-enhanced spiral CT is an ideal method for the evaluation of renal perfusion. The ability to visualize the kidney during multiple phases of contrast enhancement facilitates the diagnosis of abnormalities of major arterial inflow, segmental perfusion and global excretion. This chapter will focus on the spiral CT technique and interpretation of disorders of renal perfusion. Specific emphasis will be directed at understanding of the temporal progression of renal contrast enhancement as an aid to the evaluation of renovascular and parenchymal perfusion disorders.
