Zusammenfassung

Ein weiteres Feld der interventionellen Kardiologie ist die Katheterbehandlung der Herzklappenstenosen im Erwachsenenalter. Bis 1994 sind über 30000 Inoue-Katheter für die Ballonmitralvalvulotomie weltweit verkauft worden [48]. In der BRD stieg die Zahl der perkutanen Ballonvalvuloplastien von 473 im Jahre 1990 auf 723 im Jahre 1994 [91]. Nach Erhebungen der Working Group der European Society betrafen im Jahr 1993 mehr als 85% der Valvuloplastien die Mitralklappe [176].
