Zusammenfassung
Umweltschutz ist zu nachhaltiger Entwicklung geworden. In weniger als dreißig Jahren haben sich die Ansätze auf nationaler Ebene verändert: nach der Konzentration auf die Beseitigung alter Umweltprobleme und dem Versuch der Verhinderung neuer Probleme hat man den eingeschränkten Bereich des Umweltmanagement hinter sich gelassen und ist weiter gegangen: Im Mittelpunkt der Aufmerksamkeit steht jetzt das wesentlich weiter gefaßte und komplexere Thema des gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Wandels. Die Herausforderung besteht nicht länger nur darin, soziale und wirtschaftliche Aktivitäten zu regeln. Es geht vielmehr darum, Institutionen und gesellschaftliche Beziehungen im Sinne langfristiger Nachhaltigkeit neu zu gestalten.
