Zusammenfassung

Schädel-Hirn-Traumen (SHT) sind nicht nur die häufigste Todesursache in der Altersgruppe der unter 45 jährigen, sondern sind auch für die meisten der unfallbedingten invalidisierenden Behinderungen verantwortlich. Die häufigste Ursache sind mit über 50% Unfälle im Straßenverkehr, gefolgt von Stürzen, die rund ein Drittel der Schädel-Hirn-Verletzungen verursachen; Manner sind um ein Mehrfaches häufiger betroffen als Frauen.
