Präimplantationsdiagnostik und Präimplantationstherapie — eine Kontroverse

Zusammenfassung

Die Präimplantationstherapie muß unter die allgemeine Klassifizierung Gentherapie eingeordnet werden. Definitionsgemäß versteht man dabei unter Gentherapie die Korrektur krankheitsbedingender Gene durch rekombinante DNA-Techniken. Wird die Korrektur an Körperzellen vorgenommen, spricht man von der somatischen Gentherapie. Kommt es zu Korrekturen an Zellen der Keimbahn, handelt es sich um eine Keimbahntherapie. Veränderungen an defekten Genen können prinzipiell additiv oder kompensierend durchgeführt werden, d. h. es wird zusätzlich zu dem bereits vorhandenen defekten Gen das intakte Gen eingefügt oder es wird das defekte Gen durch das korrekte Gen ausgetauscht. Obgleich die jetzigen technischen Möglichkeiten der Molekularbiologie die für die Gentherapie erforderlichen experimentellen Methoden ohne Schwierigkeiten verfügbar machen, ist die Gentherapie für den Patienten noch immer eine Zukunftsvision.
