Zusammenfassung

Das Körpergewicht des Menschen ist das Ergebnis einer langfristigen Energiebilanz. Unabhängig von seiner aktuellen Höhe wird das Körpergewicht in engen Grenzen reguliert. Nach kurzfristiger Überoder Unterernährung kommt es über potente Adaptationsmechanismen spontan zur raschen Wiederherstellung des Ausgangsgewichts. Stabile Veränderungen des Körpergewichts können nur bei langfristigem Ungleichgewicht zwischen Energieaufnahme und Energieverbrauch entstehen.
