Zusammenfassung
Im Zuge der Liberalisierung der Energiemärkte erfolgt die Preisbildung für die verschiedenen Energieformen durch Angebot und Nachfrage. Für die Marktteilnehmer resultiert hieraus ein Preisrisiko. Eine Absicherung des Preisrisikos ist durch derivative Kontrakte möglich, die von spezialisierten Stromhändlern und von institutionalisierten Stromhandelsplätzen angeboten werden. Aufgrund der hohen Volumina und der Vertragslaufzeiten sind diese Sicherungsprodukte jedoch unter Umständen sehr teuer. Durch den Aufbau interner Flexibilität hat ein Stromproduzent die Möglichkeit, eine Absicherung durch eine geeignete Fahrweise der Anlage darzustellen. Zusätzlich bietet sich ihm die Möglichkeit der realwirtschaftlichen Arbitrage.
