Zusammenfassung
Seit der Einführung der Infrarot (IR) — Datenübertragung zur Fernbedienung von TV-Geräten, sind eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen, z.B. drahtlose Konferenzanlagen, — Museumsführer und — Industriebussysteme hinzugekommen. Weiterhin werden IR-Schnittstellen z.B. in Laptops, Drucker und Handys eingebaut, sowie hochratige Punkt zu Punkt Verbindungen und LANs auf IR-Basis realisiert. Es besteht ein starker preislicher Wettbewerb mit Systemen im Radiowellenbereich.
