Zusammenfassung

Die Inzidenz primärer maligner Hirntumoren ist bei Patienten in fortgeschrittenem Alter in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich angestiegen. Kürzlich publizierte das amerikanische National Cancer Institut (1999) die altersspezifischen Inzidenzraten von Hirntumoren mit einem Anstieg ab dem 50. Lebensjahr und Höchstwerten von 20/100.000/Jahr in der Altersgruppe der 70- bis 79-Jährigen (Stat Bite 1999).
