Designing Processes for User-oriented Quality Engineering

Book cover Software Quality and Software Testing in Internet Times

Abstract

Developing products and services fitting the customers’ needs are the main target and challenge at the same time for current projects managers.

The complexity of the products and services demanded by customers is steadily increasing, while the allowed time to market and the approved development budgets are at an all-time low.

In this situation, the application of structured software-development processes, the usage of modern design and development techniques and the application of up-to-date testing processes may work. But what if the client not only calls for a working product, but also for the development of successful products?

Here, the application of traditional test techniques most likely will leave some relevant questions relating to acceptability, usability, quality of service and profitability unanswered. Therefore, a new approach must be considered.

Therefore, we have introduced user-oriented quality engineering and other related topics into our process structure.

By applying this new approach within development projects efficiency increases, costs are reduced and the end-user acceptance and satisfaction with the product or service increases, since the needs of the customer and the market are met.
