Zusammenfassung

Opioidanalgetika sind zentral wirksame („stark wirkende“) Analgetika und hemmen im Zentralnervensystem (Gehirn oder Rückenmark) die Schmerzweiterleitung und -verarbeitung. Neuere Befunde weisen darauf hin, daß Opioide möglicherweise zusätzlich in peripheren Geweben die Schmerzentstehung hemmen können. Schmerzentstehung und -weiterleitung werden unter dem Begriff der Nozizeption zusammengefaßt.
