Abstract
QA — Quality Assurance. A widely used acronym related to those activities which should maximize the probability that a product (hardware and/or software) and its components will be manufactured according to the design specifications. Quality assurance is now closely related to the ISO9000 standards. ISO9000 is a set of standards that can be applied to a range of organizations from manufacturing through service industries. The most general standard is ISO9001, which applies to organizations which design, develop and maintain products. It describes various aspects of the QA process and defines which standards and procedures should exist within an organization. QA procedures in an organization should be documented in a quality manual that defines the quality process. The relationship between ISO9000, the quality manual and individual project quality plans is shown in Fig. Q-1.
