Zusammenfassung
Akuter und chronischer Konsum von Alkohol beeinflusst auf vielfältige Weise das Endokrinium. Viele dieser Wirkungen sind reversibel. Die Alkoholkrankheit und der chronische Alkoholmissbrauch führen z. T. aber zu bleibenden Organschädigungen,die die Problematik der Alkoholabhängigkeit noch zusätzlich verstärken können. Ethanol wirkt direkt auf Zellmembranen und beeinflusst intrazellulare metabolische Vorgänge. Außerdem treten indirekte Effekte im Sinne von Stress, Übelkeit und Erbrechen während der Alkoholintoxikation oder des Alkoholentzugs hinzu. Dieses Kapitel gibt einen Überblick über die speziellen Auswirkungen dieser Prozesse an einzelnen endokrinen Organen und deren Konsequenzen für die Stoffwechselintegrität des Organismus.
