Zusammenfassung

Als Pruritus wird eine anhaltende, verstärkte Juckreizempfindung verstanden, die zum Teil somatischen, zum anderen Teil aber auch psychogenen Ursprungs sein kann. Der Juckreiz ist keine spezifische Empfindungsqualität; er begleitet viele entzündliche Dermatosen und ist in der Regel auf eine unspezifische Reizung freier polymodaler Nervenendigungen (Nozirezeptoren) im Bereich der dermoepidermalen Basalzone zurückzuführen, nicht zuletzt als Folge der Ausschüttung entzündungsbedingter Mediatoren und von entzündlichem Begleitödem. Für die Übermittlung der Juckreizempfindung sind marklose, capsaicinsensitive Nervenfasern verantwortlich. Die Behandlung der juckenden Dermatose mit Minderung der entzündlichen Phänomene führt auch zur symptomatischen Linderung des Juckreizes.
