Abstract
In Erniques’ book on algebraic surfaces ([Enr]), culminating a research’s lifespan of over 50 years, much emphasis was set on the effective construction of surfaces, for instance of surfaces with p g = 4 and whose canonical map is a birational map onto a singular surface Σ in ℙ3.
The present cooperation took place in the realm of the DGF-Forschungsschwerpunkt “Globale Methoden in der komplexen Geometrie” and of the EAGER projectd. The third author would like to thank the University of Warwick for generous support and hospitality.
