Abstract

The principal purpose of simplifying a model is to obtain it in a less complicated form, which makes the analysis of its properties easier, faster and cheaper. The simplification procedure leads either to lowering the model order, usually connected with changes in the model parameters, or to adopting a different form of the model with its number of parameters reduced. It is assumed that the simplified models have to fulfil a chosen objective function, which determines the application of the corresponding simplification method. The most popular objective functions deal with
