Zusammenfassung

In Klinik und Praxis beobachtet man manchmal Patienten, die über ein unerträgliches Zungenbrennen klagen. Es gibt zahlreiche Fälle unklarer Genese, deren Behandlung Schwierigkeiten bereitet [33, 58, 83, 164]. Da Ärzten und Zahnärzten die Beschwerden oftmals unbekannt sind, finden die Patienten häufig wenig Hilfe für ihre Probleme. Diese therapeutische Hilflosigkeit, die Folge der Unkenntnis der wirklichen Ursache ist, treibt den Patienten von Arzt zu Arzt, ohne dass ihm im Allgemeinen geholfen werden kann [131]. Der Patient hat das Gefühl, dass seine Beschwerden nicht ernst genommen werden. Swohl für Ärzte als auch für Patienten ist das Zungenbrennen ein rätselhafter Zustand.
