Abstract
German disaster experts currently state, that a central warning and alert system for the territory of the FRG does not exist. This means, that the registration of emergencies and disasters, the information and warning of the population and a comprehensive and effective exchange of scientific information as a vital part of disaster prevention cannot be provided by federal, regional or local authorities.
