Zusammenfassung

Der Konsum von alkoholischen Getränken ist seit vielen Jahrtausenden überliefert und wird heute insbesondere in den industrialisierten Ländern von allen Gesellschaftsschichten gepflegt. Alkohol (Synonym: Ethanol) wird aus Produkten der Natur hergestellt und ist in kleinen Mengen ein Genussmittel, das wohlschmeckend ist und die Befindlichkeit steigern kann. Auch werden dem Alkohol euphorisierende, entspannende und sedierende Eigenschaften ähnlich einem Psychopharmakon zugeschrieben. Auf der anderen Seite kann Alkohol bereits in mäßigen Mengen toxisch wirken, erst recht aber bei hohem Konsum im Rahmen eines Alkoholmissbrauchs oder später einer Alkoholabhängigkeit.
