Zusammenfassung
Seit der 1960 veröffentlichten Untersuchung durch das Baltimore Study Committee, in der festgestellt wurde, dass sich nahezu die Hälfte (48,4%) aller anästhesiebedingten Todesfälle auf der Pflegestation ereigneten, wurde der Problematik der postoperativen Phase zunehmend dadurch Beachtung geschenkt, dass Aufwachstationen im Organisationsbereich der Anästhesie eingerichtet wurden (Bergmann u. Steinbereithner 1982; Cascorbi u. Gravenstein 1974; Philips et al. 1960; Tinkler et al. 1976).
