Debris Flow Activity on the Bear Island Trough Mouth Fan from GLORIA and 3.5 kHz Records

  • Chapter
European Margin Sediment Dynamics

Abstract

Glacigenic debris flows form the building blocks of trough mouth fans (TMFs) on glacier-influenced continental margins (Laberg and Vorren 1995; Dowdeswell et al. 1996; Vorren et al. 1998). Mapping from GLORIA 6.5 kHz long-range sides can sonar and 3.5 kHz sub-bottom profiler provides the data presented on the extent and nature of flows on the Bear Island TMF, west of the Barents Sea.
