Zusammenfassung

In den westlichen Industrienationen treten die tumorinduzierten Venenstenosen in etwa 75-85% infolge eines zentralen Bronchialkarzinoms im Bereich der V. cava superior (VCS) mit Ausbildung einer oberen Einflussstauung auf (Abeloff et al. 1988; Oudkerk et al. 1993). Da es meist erst in einem fortgeschrittenen Stadium der Tumorerkrankung (überwiegend T4-Tumoren bzw. N3-Stadien) zu einer Einengung der Vene kommt, sind diese Patienten meist in einem schlechten Allgemeinzustand, sodass die Bedeutung der palliativen gegenüber der kurativen Therapie überwiegt (Elson et al. 1991; Dempke 1999).
