Abstract

There is now little doubt that anthropogenic impacts will lead to further fundamental changes in the biosphere. Detailed information on the dynamic attributes of the major components of global change is urgently needed for predicting future scenarios of biodiversity in a rapidly changing world. Excellent overviews of the different facets of global change and related biodiversity topics were provided by Walker et al. (1999),(2000) and a series of articles published in “Nature” (Nature 405, 2000).
