Zusammenfassung

Das gleichzeitige Brachfallen und Entstehen städtischer Gebiete wird sowohl im deutschen wie im amerikanischen Diskurs kontrovers verhandelt: als Prozesse neuer Re- oder Dezentralisierung („Europäische Stadt“, „New Urbanism“ versus „Region“, „Postmodern Urbanism“). Sucht die eine Konzeption die Stadt unter formalen Aspekten zu erfassen, so fokussiert die andere die relationalen.
