Abstract
The venous drainage of the coronary vascular bed consists of CS drainage to the RA and non-coronary sinus drainage to both the right and left sides of the heart. The CS functions as a collecting space for the venous blood from the ventricular veins during ventricular systole. Being strongly fixed to the left atrial myocardium, the CS is emptied during atrial systole (Meerbaum 1984; Tsujioka et al.1984; Sun et al. 2002).
