Oral Mucosa: Response Modification by Keratinocyte Growth Factor

  • Chapter
Modification of Radiation Response

Part of the book series: Medical Radiology ((Med Radiol Radiat Oncol))

Abstract

Keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) was first described in humans in 1989 (Rubin et al. 1989) as a factor stimulating proliferation of epithelial cells. It is a heparin-binding member of the fibroblast growth factor group (FGF) family (Finch et al. 1989) and is alternatively denoted as FGF-7.
