In letzter Zeit haben das renommierte Institute of Medicine der National Academy of Sciences (USA), die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO), die Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in den USA, die Europáische Union (EU) und die Regierungschefs der führenden Industrienationen (G8-Staaten) auf die Bedrohung durch Infektionskrankheiten und ihre Auswirkungen hingewiesen und diesbezüglich die EntwickIung geeigneter trategien gefordert (National Academy of Sciences 1992, N.
