Zusammenfassung

Die Prognose des Patienten und das therapeutische Konzept (Operation, Radio- oder Chemotherapie) werden beim Lungenkarzinom wesentlich von histologischem Typ und Ausdehnung bestimmt. Die Masse des Tumors dokumentiert sich hauptsächlich in seiner anatomischen Ausbreitung. Zusätzlich liefern die Aktivitäten verschiedener Enzyme (z. B. Laktatdehydrogenase, neuronenspezifische Enolase), Hormone (z. B. ACTH, Parathormon, Kalzitonin) oder der Nachweis tumorspezifischer Antigene (z. B. CEA) Hinweise auf die Tumorausdehnung.
