Zusammenfassung

Information kann wie in der Datenverarbeitung verarbeitet und gespeichert werden. Sie kann übertragen werden, wie es in der Telekommunikation, der Informationsübertragung oder der Nachrichtenübertragung geschieht. Unter einer Nachricht verstehen wir eine Information, die möglichst unverändert weitergegeben und verteilt werden soll. Die Begriffe Nachrichtentechnik, Informationstechnik und Telekommunikationstechnik werden weitgehend synonym verwendet. Sie grenzen sich von der Informatik dadurch ab, dass immer ein realisiertes System oder ein Apparat dahinter steht, bzw. entworfen werden soll. Entsprechende englische Ausdrücke lauten Communications, Telecommunications mit den Zusätzen Systems, Theory und Engineering.
