Difficult and Complicated Cases in Refractive Surgery

Abstract

Pediatric laser refractive surgery was first reported in 1995 [1]. Two types of pediatric refractive surgery are intraocular refractive surgery with the implantation of intraocular lenses (IOL) and corneal refractive surgery (PRK and LASIK). Either option may help reverse refractive amblyopia, especially in cases in which either severe anisometropia does not improve with spectacles or when contact lens adaptation is impossible. In such cases, surgery can eliminate or reduce aniseikonia and correct for high myopia and astigmatism.
