Establishing the System of How to Select the Contractor in a Large-Scale Construction Project

Abstract

Construction is very important to the success of large-scale construction projects. How to choose the construction contractor is of great significance in engineering project management. The system of how to choose the construction contractor is established in the paper. At first, according to engineering practice, the input selective properties of the contractor, which is categorized into technical attribute set and business attribute set, are proposed and optimized. Moreover, artificial neural network is applied to the actual construction’s future output prediction, and a appropriate neural network structure is established to predict the future output of the contractors. Finally, the construction contractor is selected based on more accurate output of forecasts of the contractors. The writer brings up the algorithm’s basic idea and its steps, uses Matlab as experimental tool and selects some cases of model prediction and choice. The experiment shows that the model has self-learning ability and high prediction accuracy and can be used to select contractors. It is effectively helpful for selecting contractor in large construction projects, and will be quite promising in the future.
