Zusammenfassung

Neuropsychologische Studien versuchen zu klären, ob bei Patientinnen mit Essstörungen kognitive Defizite vorliegen, ob diese Folge der Erkrankung (z. B. starvationsbedingt) und reversibel sind oder Trait-Merkmale der Erkrankung darstellen, die zu ihrer Entstehung beitragen. Obwohl viele uneinheitliche Befunde berichtet wurden, zeigten sich insgesamt unspezifische Defizite im Bereich der Aufmerksamkeit (z. B. langsameres psychomotorisches Tempo), aber ein spezifischer Aufmerksamkeitsbias für figur- und essensbezogene Reize, stärkere implizite Lern- als explizite Gedächtnisdefizite und persistierende Defizite im Bereich der exekutiven Funktionen (Set-Shifting) und der Belohnungsverarbeitung bei Essstörungen. Diese stehen möglicherweise im Zusammenhang mit der Veränderung von Steroid- und Neuropeptidhormonen. Die Effektivität von spezifischen kognitiven Remidiationsprogrammen zur Behandlung von neuropsychologischen Defizite bei Essstörungen muss noch überprüft werden.
