Abstract
Keloids are the result of an exaggerated response to wound healing. They occur more commonly in those of African, Hispanic, and Asian lineage and may be sporadic or familial in inheritance. Despite their benign nature, keloids remain a therapeutic challenge as they are difficult to treat and have high recurrence rates. This chapter focuses on the clinical features, natural history, treatment, and prevention of keloids.
