Zusammenfassung

Die demografische Entwicklung führt zu einer stetigen Zunahme des Anteils älterer Menschen in unserer Gesellschaft. Diese Entwicklung hat auch die Verbrennungsmedizin mit einer überproportionalen Zunahme an Patienten in diesem Altersabschnitt erreicht. Eingeschränkte physiologische und physische Leistungsreserven führen zu alterstypischen Verbrennungsverletzungen. Die hohe Multimorbidität stellt an die Versorgung zusätzlich hohe Anforderungen mit verstärkter Inanspruchnahme eines höheren Therapieaufwands und längerer Behandlungsdauer. Spezielle altersgerechte Nachbehandlungsmöglichkeiten fehlen oder werden häufig nicht von den Kostenträgern finanziert.
