In-Memory-Datenbanken erfahren derzeit große Aufmerksamkeit in der Praxis. So positioniert SAP die eigene In-Memory-Datenbanktechnologie SAP HANA als strategische „Appliance“. Aber auch andere Anbieter wie IBM und Oracle bieten Produkte auf Basis von In-Memory-Datenbanktechnologie an, so dass Gartner bereits der Ansicht ist, bei In-Memory-Datenbanken handele es sich bereits um „Mainstream“ (Pezzini, 2013).
