Abstract
In this chapter, we reviewed the epidemiological status of the central nervous system hydatidosis in Mediterranean and Middle East countries. Indeed, the annual incidence of hydatidosis in Mediterranean and Middle East countries varies between 1 and 27 cases per 100,000 inhabitants with most being in the five to ten cases per 100,000 ranges. The geographical predominance of the disease remains medium to high in these countries despite different control programs and engaged efforts. Therefore, further efficient control programs are mandatory to eradicate this devastating parasitic disease.
