Abstract
Patterns (derived from the French word patron) designate recurring objects or events. Largely used in daily life to express parts or full building blocks, design structures or elements of art. On the other hand mathematics is considered as the art of finding structures or the science of patterns. Both notions are of interest to us in this current book: a continuous search for building blocks, dynamics, and design structure by using the power of mathematics to identify, represent and solve complex structures and dynamics used as building patterns repeated in predictable manner. In the end this gives reuse opportunities both for recognition purposes and for building purposes. We can recognize good or bad patterns and we can reuse good components from a library of these.
Nature uses only the longest threads to weave her patterns
so that each small piece of her fabric reveals the organization of the entire tapestry.
