Zusammenfassung

Die endovaskuläre Therapie der Carotisstenose ist im Vergleich zur Carotischirurgie ein relativ junges Verfahren. Die erste Ballondilatation der A. carotis beim Menschen datiert von. 1979, die erste Stentimplantation in die A. carotis wurde 1989 durchgeführt (4). Stents waren in der Lage, das Primärergebnis der endovaskulären Behandlung zu verbessern und die Komplikationsrate zu senken (1, 4, 5, 6, 8).
