Zusammenfassung
Die Vielfalt des klinischen und wissenschaftlichen Wirkens Friedrich Trendelenburgs erstreckte sich, für einen profilierten deutschen Chirurgen seiner Zeit ganz selbstverständlich, auch auf die Problemstellungen der Anästhesie und der Erhaltung bedrohter Vitalfunktionen. Der folgende Exkurs soll daran erinnern, warum sein Name noch heute in Anästhesiologie und Notfallmedizin so geläufig ist.
