Die Alzheimer-Krankheit ist die häufigste geriatrische Krankheit. 5% der über 65jährigen leiden daran. Diese Zahl steigt rapide mit dem Lebensalter an, und bei den über 80jährigen sind es schon über 10 bis 20%. Allerdings kann die Krankheit schon bei 35jährigen beginnen.
