Zusammenfassung
Wir wollen die Kapitel über die Methoden der Datenorganisation mit der häufig angewendeten und weithin bekannten index-sequentiellen Technik beginnen. Ein Index ist einfach ein Inhaltsverzeichnis. Zur Einführung soll die häufig verwendete ISAM-Technik (1SAM = Index Sequential Access Method) zur Verwaltung von Plattenspeicherdaten vorgestellt werden, obwohl die Technik natürlich nicht von dem Medium abhängig ist, falls es nur direkt oder halbdirekt adressierbar ist (vgl. [IBM 1], [Mc D]).
