Abstract
Vibrations play an important role in nature and in engineering. In this chapter we will investigate the behaviour of systems with one or two degrees of freedom which exhibit vibrations. We will restrict ourselves to systems where the equations of motion are linear differential equations. This will already enable us to describe various important features of vibrations. You will learn how to analyse free and forced vibrations with or without damping.
