Abstract

A divisor of Aⁿ(or Pⁿ) is an (n − 1)-dimensional cycle X = Σ _i n _i V _i , of this space: it can be uniquely determined by the rational function ${\pi _i}{F_i}{(\xi )^{{n_i}}}$ where F _i (ξ) = 0 is the equation of the form V _i in Aⁿ (or Pⁿ). Conversely X determines such a function to within an arbitrary constant factor, and the degree of X coincides with the degree of the associated function.
