Abstract
In its review “Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Hungary” (1993) the OECD recommended a technology audit for the country. As the Hungarian authorities were highly interested in the project, the OECD carried out a pilot technology audit in co-operation with research institutes from Germany, Finland, France and Austria from April until December 1994. Its aim was to analyse industrial and technological strengths and weaknesses in order to provide a sound basis for technology policy. The National Committee for Technological Development (OMFB) in Hungary selected four sectors which were considered to have potentially competitive strengths: medical equipment production, packaging industry, agricultural machine production, and plastic processing industry.
