Abstract
Since 1990 the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) have experienced a radical technological restructuring. Their task is to integrate into the world market. While some CEECs can rely on a good research base, the major legacy of the soviet system is outdated technology and capital stock. The instrument of technology audit aims at identifying industrial and technological strengths and weaknesses in order to support policy makers in designing an appropriate strategy for the restructuring of science and industry and technology policy.
