Zusammenfassung

Die nahende Jahrtausendwende ist für viele Unternehmen Anlaß, gewachsene Strukturen im Licht des tiefgreifenden Wandels der letzten Jahrzehnte zu überprüfen. Bei der Entwicklung von Konzepten für das Unternehmen 2000 kommt der Wirtschaftsinformatik als Mittler zwischen Informationstechnologie und Betriebswirtschaftslehre eine besondere Rolle zu. Die raschen Fortschritte in der Informationstechnologie und jüngere Entwicklungen der Betriebswirtschaftslehre führen zu neuen Herausforderungen insbesondere im Bereich von Architekturen für integrierte Informationssysteme, der Objektorientierung und bei verteilten Systemen. Im Spannungsfeld von Informatik und BWL kommt darüber hinaus dem Technologietransfer besondere Bedeutung zu.
