Abstract
Alkyltetracarbonylcobalt derivatives, RCo(CO)4, have been prepared by the reaction of sodium tetracarbonylcobaltate with alkyl halides in polar solvents and by decarboxylation of acyltetracarbonylcobalt, RCOCo(CO)4, by a thermal or vacuum treatment. Ethyltetracarbonylcobalt was obtained by treating sodium tetracarbonylcobaltate with triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate. Perfluoroalkyltetracarbonylcobalt derivatives resulted from the reaction of perfluoroacyl halides or perfluorocarboxylic anhydrides with lithium tetracarbonylcobaltate and with dicobalt octacarbonyl, respectively. Tetrafluoroethylenebis(tetracarbonylcobalt) was prepared through the reaction of tetrafluoroethylene with dicobalt octacarbonyl.
